Welcome to Cape Fear Model Railroad Society

We are based in Wilmington, NC, with a mission to promote the enjoyment and educational value of model railroading.  

We bring together people of all ages who share an interest in rail history, scale modeling, and creative layout design. Through collaboration, hands‑on learning, and community outreach, we strive to:

• Preserve and share the history of railroading through accurate modeling and storytelling
• Foster skill‑building in scenery, electronics, operations, and layout construction
• Provide an inclusive, welcoming environment where members can learn, teach, and grow together
• Inspire the next generation by engaging the public through open houses, demonstrations, and educational programs
• Encourage creativity and innovation in the art and engineering of model railroading

We are committed to building community, celebrating craftsmanship, and keeping the spirit of railroading alive one scale mile at a time.

We gladly accept donations of trains in any scale, as well as scenery, buildings, track, and other items that support the hobby of model railroading.
